AGARTALA: The shipment of sixteen kilograms of agar oil to Dubai, valued at about Rs. 1 crore, was welcomed by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha as a major victory for the state's agarwood sector.
He wrote on X that he was proud of the achievement and praised the Forest Department, especially the North East Centre for Entrepreneurship (NCE), for their work in boosting the agar trade in Tripura.
"This is a proud moment for Tripura. Our agar growers have reached the global market. Huge appreciation to the Forest Department and NCE for their tireless efforts," wrote CM Saha.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry's Director General of Foreign Trade gave his approval to the shipment. The licence to export the oil was obtained by Mamon Enterprise, a company situated in Kadamtala, North Tripura.
CM Saha also emphasized the enormous potential of Tripura's agarwood industry during the inaugural session of the 4th International Agarwood Conclave and Buyer-Seller Meet.
Additionally, he reaffirmed the state's ambitious aspirations to use the success of the Tripura Agarwood Policy 2021 to draw in investment and increase output in order to establish an agarwood-based economy worth Rs. 2,000 crore within the next four to five years.
Earlier this year, Tripura sent off a shipment of 600 kg of queen pineapples headed for Oman at Agartala Railway Station, marking a significant milestone in the state's agricultural exports.
