Tripura: BSF Thwarts Smuggling Attempts, Seizes Contraband Along Indo-Bangladesh Border

BSF Tripura thwarted multiple smuggling attempts along the Indo-Bangladesh border, seizing contraband including Phensedyl, Ganja, and sugar worth Rs. 11,28,193.

AGARTALA: Troops of the Border Security Force (BSF) in Tripura have successfully thwarted several smuggling attempts along the Indo-Bangladesh border, and contraband worth Rs. 11,28,193 has been seized. Among the recovered items were Phensedyl, Ganja, and sugar, which shows that the BSF is continuously fighting against illegal activities in the region.

On 29 January, based on specific intelligence, BSF personnel foiled a major smuggling attempt in the Digyabari area of West Tripura and recovered clothes and firecrackers valued at Rs. 24,48,000. The operation marked the proactive measure taken by BSF against smuggling along the border.

On 12 January, alert mahila praharis of the BSF had prevented a major smuggling attempt at Border Out Post Ashabari in Sepahijala district. A substantial quantity of sugar and other contraband were recovered.

Also, Ashwini Kumar Sharma, IG, Tripura Frontier BSF, along with DIG Rajeev Vatsaraj, visited different BOPs and border areas in Kamalpur and Kailasahar to review the operational preparedness.

On January 11, BSF troops at BOP Gaurnagar apprehended three Bangladeshi nationals who were attempting to cross over into India. The apprehended individuals revealed in interrogation that there were Indian and Bangladeshi touts involved in taking them across.
