AGARTALA: The Tripura Government’s Good Governance Department hosted the inaugural Pravasi Tripura Summit on January 9, inspired by the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas celebrated by the Prime Minister.

The summit aimed to connect non-resident Tripurians to explore investment opportunities and encourage their participation in the state's development.

For the first time, the summit was held offline, with over 55-60 non-resident Tripurians from India and abroad attending the event. Many participants expressed interest in investing in sectors such as education, healthcare, information technology, tourism, and public services to support Tripura’s growth.

Although Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha was unable to attend due to prior commitments, his OSD, Parmananda Sarkar Banerjee, and key officials, including Industry Secretary Kiran Gitte and Director of Industries Bishwashri B., were actively involved in the summit.

Kiran Gitte announced the creation of a Pravasi Tripura Desk under the Good Governance Department to provide ongoing support to non-resident Tripurians interested in investing. He assured that the government is committed to assisting investors in their efforts.

The summit also featured a virtual interaction, where Tripurians living outside the state were recognized for their contributions. Officials, including Banerjee and Gitte, encouraged the diaspora to play an active role in Tripura's development.
