Tripura Taking Steps To Preserve Folk Culture, Empower Scheduled Caste Communities, Says CM Saha

AGARTALA: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has stated that the state government is taking proactive steps to preserve folk culture and promote the holistic development of Scheduled Caste communities.

While inaugurating a three-day festival marking the 111th birth anniversary of literary icon Advaita Mallabarman, the Chief Minister honored his legacy. Despite passing away at just 37, Mallabarman made a lasting impact on Indian literature.

Highlighting Mallabarman's timeless novel Titash Ekti Nadir Naam, Saha commended the author for his significant contributions to Bengali literature, achieved despite his short life.

Saha remarked that Mallabarman's literary contributions, encompassing novels, essays, and translations, were deeply influenced by his personal experiences and continue to inspire generations.

The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s dedication to preserving folk culture and uplifting underprivileged communities. He recounted anecdotes about Mallabarman’s struggles with poverty and unwavering devotion to literature, portraying him as a role model whose life exemplifies resilience and creativity.

Saha highlighted several welfare programs introduced by the Tripura government and the Department of Scheduled Caste Welfare since 2018-19.

Initiatives like the Prime Minister Adarsh Gram Yojana, Babu Jagjivan Ram Hostel Scheme, and various self-reliance programs have positively impacted thousands of SC families, supported by substantial financial investments.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Sudhanshu Das, Minister of Scheduled Caste Welfare; MLAs Kishore Barman and Pinaki Das Chowdhury; Supriya Das Dutta, Chairperson of Sepahijala Zilla Parishad; along with senior officials from the SC Welfare Department and local administration.

The festival honored the life and legacy of Advaita Mallabarman, while highlighting the government’s dedication to cultural preservation and social welfare.
