GUWAHATI: Assam wrapped up their campaign at the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) with a commendable performance, securing 11th place in the overall medal tally. The state’s athletes brought home a total of 25 medals, comprising 10 gold, 5 silver, and 10 bronze.
The prestigious multi-sport event concluded in Bihar on Thursday, with thousands of young athletes from across the country competing with passion and determination. Assam’s performance was marked by consistency and skill across a range of sports, reflecting the growing strength of the state in youth athletics. Several athletes from Assam emerged as standout performers with swimmers giving the best performance with 4 medals, including 3 gold. On the other hand, the weightlifting team won 7 medals, includig a gold. Assam also won gold in Thang-Ta, Table Tennis, Sepak Takraw, Yogasana and Kalariypayattu.
This edition of the Khelo India Youth Games featured 27 different sporting disciplines and was hosted across six cities in Bihar.
