NAGAON: The Assam team has achieved remarkable success in the 49th Senior National Yogasana Sports Championship held in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, from February 13 to 16, winning one silver medal and two bronze medals.
Madhurjya Sarma from Majuli and Pranab Changmai from Dibrugarh secured the silver medal in the men’s rhythmic pair event, while Nikita Konch and Purabi Baishya from Sonitpur won the bronze medal in the women’s rhythmic pair event. Additionally, Pranab Changmai, Madhurjya Sarma, Nikita Konch, Ankita Dutta, and Harshita Goswami won the bronze medal in the free flow yoga group event.
The Assam team had undergone training at the State Yogic Center, Nirban, Nagaon, from February 6 to 9, under the guidance of Assam Yogic Association’s Technical Director, Bichitra Ranjan Bora, and Yogic Guru, Prabhat Chandra Bora.
The team was accompanied by referees Nizara Bora, Mitali Das, and Dr Tulu Moni Devi. The success of the Assam team has been hailed by Dr Krishna Kumar Bora , president of Assam Yoga Association, general secretary, Prabhat Chandra Bora, treasurer, Manjula Laskar, vice-president, Brajen Kakati, and joint secretaries Hemanta Singha and Samir Hazarika, among others.
