GUWAHATI: The Assam women’s team began their campaign in the Khelo India Youth Games with a hard-fought draw against Bihar in their opening Kabaddi match held at Rajgir on Sunday. In a closely contested encounter, both teams displayed strong defensive and offensive skills, ultimately ending the match with a scoreline of 33-33. With the tie, both Assam and Bihar earned one point each. Assam will next take on a strong Tamil Nadu side in their second match scheduled for Monday.
Meanwhile, in women’s volleyball, Assam suffered a straight-set defeat at the hands of Rajasthan, losing 0-3 in their opening match. The volleyball matches are being hosted in Patna. Looking to bounce back, Assam will face Gujarat in their next volleyball clash on Monday. Kerala is the other team in the group.
This time, Assam has sent more than 100 athletes to the Khelo India Youth Games, which are beingjointly hosted by Bihar and Delhi. Assam will participate in 17 different disciplines.
