GUWAHATI: Assam’s women’s cricket team continued their impressive form in Malaysia, securing their second consecutive victory of the tour on Wednesday. The team triumphed over Malaysia XI by a commanding 91-run margin at Bayuemas Oval, Kuala Lumpur.
Opting to bat first, Assam posted a competitive total of 235-9 in 50 overs, driven by a solid 42 runs off 60 balls from Gayatri Gurung. Other key contributions came from Amontika Munda (38 off 66 balls), Monikha Das (32 off 41 balls), Jintimani Kalita (31no off 30 balls), and captain Rashmi Dey (28 off 37 balls). The opening partnership between Amontika and Gayatri set the tone, adding 78 runs in 16.5 overs and laying the foundation for a challenging total.
Amalin Sorfina of Malaysia was the standout bowler, claiming 4 wickets for 31 runs.
In reply, Malaysia struggled against some tight and accurate bowling from Assam’s bowlers. They were bowled out for 144 in 43.5 overs. Lauren Kua top-scored with 48 runs off 76 balls, while Wan Julia contributed 41 runs.
Assam’s bowlers shared the spoils, with Rashmi Dey, Jintimani Kalita, Monikha Das, Mousumi Narah, Nirupama Baro, Priyanka Baruah, and Rima Pegu-all were successful to bag wickets.
