GUWAHATI: The head coach of the Indian cricket team, Gautam Gambhir, paid a spiritual visit to the Kamakhya Temple on Monday morning, seeking divine blessings ahead of Team India’s crucial England tour.
Gambhir, who arrived in Guwahati earlier in the day, headed straight for the temple located atop Nilachal Hills. He spent about half an hour at the temple premises, where he performed all the rituals with devotion and reverence.
His unexpected appearance at the sacred site surprised many devotees present at the temple premises. Several fans recognized him and eagerly tried to capture selfies and photographs with the cricketing icon.
The upcoming five-match Test series against England, beginning on June 20, holds significance for Gambhir as he continues to shape the Indian team in the longest format of the game. Under his leadership, India is still striving to establish dominance in Test cricket, making the series a vital opportunity to turn things around.
