GUWAHATI: DBI Sports Club and FC Green Valley played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in the 70th Bordoloi Trophy Football Championship (Kamrup Metro) at the SAI Complex here today.
DBI Sports Club started the game with determination and took the lead in the 24th minute when Jitu Ahmed found the back of the net. However, FC Green Valley responded swiftly, equalizing just 11 minutes later through a well-placed strike by Dharmendra Das. The first half concluded with both teams locked at 1-1.
In the second half, DBI Sports Club once again seized the advantage after earning a penalty. Manjit Taro stepped up and expertly converted the spot-kick, putting his side ahead. But FC Green Valley refused to back down and continued to mount pressure on their opponents. Their persistence paid off in the 70th minute when they were awarded a penalty, which Chandan Yadav confidently slotted home to restore parity.
Both teams fought hard in the final minutes, but neither could break the deadlock, resulting in a well-contested draw.
Meanwhile the referee had a challenging time maintaining control of the game, as 11 players, 4 from DBI along with 7 from Green Valley and also their coach, were shown yellow cards. The situation worsened for Green Valley when Lukesh Kuli received a marching order in the 72nd minute, reducing his team to 10 men.
