GUWAHATI: The 27th India Club Open Tennis Championship commenced on Monday at the India Club premises. The event was inaugurated by Baidyanath Maharana, Director (Finance) of NEEPCO, in the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Rajib Bhattacharya, GM (HR) NRL, and Ankush Dutta, General Secretary of the All Assam Tennis Association.

The championship offers a total cash scholarship of Rs 1,55,000, along with trophies and certificates for participants. Additionally, players will earn valuable AATA ranking points through their participation.

The tournament features a variety of events across multiple age categories, including: Boys and Girls U-10 years, Singles, U-12 years Singles, U-14 years Singles, U-18 years Singles, Gentlemen Singles and Doubles, Ladies Singles, Mixed Doubles above 30 years, Men’s Senior Doubles above 35, 45, 55 and 60 years. Around 400 participants are taking part in the championship. This year India Club has also introduced the Ashok Kr Das Memorial Trophy for Best Sportsmanship Award.
