GUWAHATI: Assam Open Karate Championship got under way at the DTRP Indoor Stadium, RG Baruah Sports complex on Saturday under the initiative of All Assam Karate Association. 950 players from different parts of the State are participating in various age groups of the Kata and Kumite events in the sub-junior, cadet, junior, and senior categories. Total prize money of the competition, which will conclude on Sunday, is Rs 2.20 lakh.
