GUWAHATI: Triranga Cricket Coaching Centre stormed into the final of the APCC Cricket Tournament, defeating Cricket Club of Dibrugarh by 6 wickets in the first semi-final at Judges Field today. The match saw multiple good performances from the batters of both teams, but it was Denish Das of the winning side who was named the Man of the Match for his 44 runs off 38 balls knock.
Electing to bat first, Cricket Club of Dibrugarh struggled in the early stages, quickly falling to 4 for 30. However, a steady partnership between Rajat Khan and Mukhtar Hussain revived their innings. Both players struck half-centuries, guiding their team to a competitive total. Rajat Khan scored a fluent 55, laced with 9 boundaries and a six, while Mukhtar Hussain contributed a valuable 54, including 8 boundaries and a six. Their partnership, which yielded 76 runs for the seventh wicket, was crucial in helping Dibrugarh outfit to post a challenging total.
Hridip Deka was the standout bowler for Triranga, picking up 3 wickets for 36 runs, while Sanjib Pathak also impressed with figures of 2 for 21.
In reply, Triranga comfortably chased down the target, thanks to an outstanding opening partnership of 103 runs between Kabir Hassan Deshmukh and Kumar Prabhuji. Kabir led the charge with a solid 55, which included 6 boundaries and a six, while Kumar supported him well with 46 runs off 5 boundaries.
Denish Das then took charge of the chase, remaining not out on 44 with 4 boundaries to seal the win for his team. Mukhtar Hussain and Rajat Khan were the pick of the bowlers for Cricket Club of Dibrugarh, each taking 2 wickets.
The second semi-final will be held between Tengapara Cricket Club and Itkhola AC on Friday at the same venue.
