GUWAHATI: Dr T Ao Invitational Football tournament reached an interesting stage as three teams have equal chances to make it to the final of the competition. Two group league matches were held on the second day of the meet at the LNIPE campus at Tapesia today. BTR upset ASEBSC registering a 4-1 win which also made them a contender for the final spot. On the other hand OILFC in the first game of the day defeated LNIPE by 4-1.
The last two group matches of the championship will be held tomorrow at the same venue. In the first game of the day LNIPE, already out of the competition, will face BTR (4 points) and a simple draw will be enough for Kokrajhar outfit to reach into the final. OILFC (4 points) also needed a draw in their last match against ASEBSC to earn the ticket for the final. However ASEBSC required a win to book their berth in the title clash as they earned three points in their previous two games and also standing behind both OILFC and BTR in goal difference.
OILFC played good soccer this morning and beat LNIPE 4-1. Milan Basumatary (2), Geremsha Basumatary and Akrang Narzary scored for OILFC and Archit was the lone scorer for LNIPE. In the other game of the day BTR stunned ASESC 4-1. Lwith Basumatary opened the account for BTR in the 20th minute after Dwijoraj Boro put ASEBSC ahead in the 3rd minute of the game. BTR scored three more goals through Jwngbla Brahma, Lwith Basumatary and Gwghmsar Goyary.
