GUWAHATI: Cricket Club of Dibrugarh (CCD) secured a dominant eight-wicket win over Rangia Cricket Academy (RCA) in the opening match of the final round of the 7th Assam Premier Club Championship (APCC) 2024-25, held at Judges' Field today.
Rangia Cricket Academy, who opted to bat first, was bowled out for 154 runs in 39.2 overs. The top contributors with the bat were Vivek Dauka (30 off 32 balls, four boundaries), Ratul Das (27 off 40 balls, including four boundaries and three sixes), and Sanjeeb Kashyap (25 off 40 balls, four boundaries, two sixes). Sunil Lachit and Sekhar Jyoti Barman each claimed three wickets.
Chasing a modest target, Cricket Club of Dibrugarh achieved it comfortably, reaching 158 for the loss of two wickets in 34.2 overs. Ishan Ahmed led the chase with an assured 56 off 83 deliveries, including four boundaries and five sixes. Ankush Mazumder remained unbeaten on 52 from 62 balls, hitting four boundaries and six sixes, while Rajeev Dubey contributed 35 runs off 51 balls.
The championship was inaugurated earlier by former Assam first-class cricketer Samarjit Neog, who praised the Assam Cricket Association for organizing such a competitive tournament. The opening ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including Kajal Paul Choudhury (Joint Secretary, GSA), Amiya Kumar Kalita (Treasurer, GSA), Bablu Choudhury (Assistant General Secretary, GSA), Nasir Gul Khan (Sports Secretary, Cricket, GSA), Raghavendra Mazumder (Sports Secretary, Athletics, GSA), Pramod Rajbongshi (Executive Member, GSA), and Munin Nobis (CEO, GSA).
