GUWAHATI: Brilliant centuries from Parvez Musaraf and Aman Singh powered Silchar into a commanding position against Nalbari on Day 1 of Nuruddin Ahmed Senior Inter District Cricket tournament at ACA Stadium in Guwahati.

After opting to bat, Nalbari struggled against a disciplined Silchar bowling attack and were bowled out for just 75 in 29.3 overs. Irfan Ahmed (21) and Nitish Talukdar (17) offered some resistance, but Rahul Singh (4/12) led the charge, supported well by Samik Das (2/21) and Amit Kumar Yadav (2/7).

In response, Silchar dominated proceedings with the bat. Musaraf smashed 134 (4X17, 6X5) off 129 balls, while Aman Singh compiled a fluent 130 (4X18, 6X2)  off 147 balls, the duo putting together a massive 256 runs opening partnership partnership that took the game away from Nalbari. By stumps, Silchar had surged to 349/3 in 60 overs, securing a lead of 274 runs.
