GUWAHATI: Navajyoti Club and Gauhati Town Club (GTC) secured victories in their respective matches in the GTC Men’s Summer Challenge T20 Trophy at Judges Field today. Navajyoti Club triumphed over Navarang Club by 22 runs, while Gauhati Town Club defeated City Cricket Club by 7 wickets.
In the opening match, Navajyoti Club, after decided to bat, posted a total of 177/7 in 20 overs. Siddhant Bordoloi was the top scorer with a solid 63, including 4 fours and equal number of sixes, while Hrishikesh Tamuli contributed 41 (2 fours, 3 sixes). Abir Chakraborty was the pick of the bowlers for Navarang Club, finishing with 3 wickets for 38 runs.
Navarang Club’s chase fell short despite a stellar knock from Bikiran Das. He scored a valiant 80 off 47 balls, with 5fours and 7 sixes. Manjeet Deka added 31 runs, but the target proved too much for them.
In the other match of the day, Gauhati Town Club successfully chased down a target of 135 in 16.4 overs, winning the game by 7 wickets. Bishal Sarma played an unbeaten knock of 74 from 49 balls, which included 6 boundaries and 5 sixes, guiding his team to victory. Abdul Ajij Kuraishi also contributed with a handy 48 off 34 balls, which included 3 fours and 3 sixes.
Earlier, City Cricket Club, after opting to bat, posted a total of 134/9 in their 20 overs. Rohan Hazarika was the top scorer for them with 63 runs from 56 balls, hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes. Tarjinder Singh added 28 runs, while Mantu Yadav was the standout bowler for Gauhati Town Club, finishing with figures of 3/21.
