GUWAHATI: Ace para cyclist Rakesh Banik returned home today after successfully completing the Bhalga to Brahmaputra Cycle Expedition. The arduous journey, which began in Russia, covered nearly 7,000 km and concluded with a flag-down ceremony at Nehru Stadium in Guwahati.

Speaking at the event, Rakesh shared his experiences: “The journey was very challenging, but I’m happy that I completed it as per plan and schedule.”

The expedition was flagged off in Moscow on April 29, and over the course of several weeks, Rakesh cycled through various countries including Russia, Tajakistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and Nepal before entering India.

Rakesh extended his gratitude to the Assam Government, as well as various agencies and associations, for their support in helping him successfully complete the expedition.
