Assam Budget 2025-26: Tax Relief for Over 1.34 Lakh Families, Green Tea Holiday Extended

The state budget for the financial year 2025-26 has proposed exemptions on professional tax for individuals earning up to Rs 15,000 per month

GUWAHATI: The state budget for the financial year 2025-26 has proposed exemptions on professional tax for individuals earning up to Rs 15,000 per month under the Assam Professions, Trades, Callings and Employment Taxation Act, 1947. This will benefit more than 1.34 lakh taxpayers/families.

The budget also announced reimbursement of state GST for bell metal industry. A detailed notification to this regard will be issued by May 2025.

The budget announced extension of tax holiday on green tea leaves under the Assam Taxation (Specified Lands) Act, 1990 for another two years with effect from January 1, 2025.

 Rupee comes from

(1)    Rs 34,823 crore from state tax revenue.

(2)    Rs 8,361 crore from non-tax revenue. 

(3)    Rs 44,494 crore from share of central taxes.

(4)    Rs 24,755 crore from centrally-sponsored schemes.

(5)    Rs 4,482 crore from Finance Commission grants.

(6)    Rs 36,185 crore from public debt.

(7)    Rs 2,018 crore from recoveries of loans and advances.

(8)    Rs 311 crore from other transfer and grants.

Rupee goes to

(1)     Rs 64,178 crore to social services.

(2)     Rs 49,166 crore to general services.

(3)     Rs 32,270 crore to economic services.

(4)     Rs 9,343 crore to public debt.

(5)     Rs 977 crore to grants-in-aid.

(6)     Rs 52 crore to loans and advances.
