Guwahati: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma vowed to break down the network of Pakistani national Ali Tauqeer Sheikh, which he said will have a big impact on Assam politics in September this year. In the last cabinet meeting on February 16, it was decided that a case will be registered against Pakistani national Ali Tauqeer Sheikh.
Following the decision, a case was lodged by the Assam Police, and an SIT was formed to investigate him.
In this regard, the CM today stated in the House on the third day of the Budget session in the Assam Assembly on Thursday, "Ali Tauqeer Sheikh is a Pakistani national, and he works with a climate action group. Ali Tauqueer Sheikh works for Climate Development and Knowledge Network (CDKN), which apparently is a climate action group, but all his tweets and activities are more related to Assam and India's internal politics rather than climate. Our SIT is so smart that during the investigation, it came to know that he visited India 18 times. During the rest of the investigation, we will come to know who invites him and who hosts his stay here. According to the initial information in my hands, it will be fatal for the Congress. This is going to be huge. The revelations made till now have revealed certain "startling facts" that are beyond my imagination. We will inquire as far as we can go or hand it to the NIA. The probe will reveal what they actually are. We will come back with facts before the next Assembly session. The month of September will bring a big impact on Assam politics."
"So, I promise the Assam Assembly that we will break the network of Ali Tauqeer Sheikh, and we will come back to the Assam Assembly in the month of August. Give us just three months, we will come back with facts which will be huge. I know the facts because informally the facts are with me, but it has to be on record... and the facts will be used, it will be fatal, and it will shake us up," the CM assured the Assembly.
The name of Ali Tauqueer Sheikh emerged after the Assam Chief Minister recently wrote on social media that Sheikh had previously worked with Elizabeth Colburn, a British citizen and wife of Gaurav Gogoi, Congress' Deputy leader in the Lok Sabha and MP from Assam.
