Towards this end, the Secretary to the Fishery Department, Government of Assam, has written to all District Commissioners (DCs) in Assam regarding the fixation of the fish prices in view of the upcoming Magh Bihu.

The letter directed all DCs to take 'urgent necessary action for fixation of price of fish' in their respective districts in the event of the upcoming Magh Bihu and 'report compliance.'

The DCs have been further directed to set up monitoring teams throughout the entire district under their respective jurisdictions to monitor whether vendors are selling the fish as per the prices fixed.
