Guwahati : The people of Kalaigaon are set to pay a heartfelt tribute to late music legend Zubeen Garg, whose untimely death on September 19 left fans across the state in deep sorrow. A grand two-day public tribute programme will be organised on October 28 and 29, jointly hosted by the Kalaigaon unit of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and the All Jayanta Youth and Students’ Association (AJAYUSSAP).
As a mark of love and respect, 5,000 women from Kalaigaon will come together to perform Zubeen’s favourite song “Mayabini.” The mass performance will serve as the emotional centrepiece of the event, symbolising the community’s shared admiration and grief.
Organisers said the tribute aims to celebrate Zubeen Garg’s lasting impact on Assamese culture and his close connection with the people. Local residents are preparing decorations, musical performances, and cultural displays to honour his memory.
