91,31,127 electors to seal fate of 29,608 candidates

GUWAHATI: Thirteen districts of central and lower Assam are going to panchayat poll 2025 on May 7 in the second and final phase. As many as 91,31,127 electors will exercise their franchise on ballot papers and seal the fates of 29,608 candidates in this phase. The first phase was held on May 2. This phase of the poll has 12,130 polling stations.
According to the Assam State Election Commission (SEC), most of the teams of polling personnel have left for their polling stations this morning. A few teams of polling officials deployed for poll duty in remote areas left for their destinations on May 5. All the polling personnel reached their respective polling stations by this evening.
All the 13 districts have necessary security bandobast for free, fair and peaceful conduct of the panchayat poll. The State Election Commission instructed all district commissioners and superintendents of police to take necessary measures for the panchayat poll.
The districts going to panchayat poll tomorrow are Dhubri, South Salmara-Mankachar, Goalpara, Bongaigaon, Barpeta, Bajali, Nalbari, Kamrup, Kamrup (M), Hojai, Nagaon, Morigaon, and Darrang.
The polling will start at 7.30 am and conclude at 4.30 pm.
As many as 495 ZPC, 2388 AP, and 26725 GP member candidates are in the poll fray in this phase.
As many as 21 GP members, 151 AP members and 1,117 GP members have been elected unopposed in this phase.
The counting of votes for both the phases of the panchayat poll will be on May 11 from 8 am.
