Guwahati: The School Education department has issued guidelines for school uniforms in the next academic year of 2025-26. The delivery of school uniforms has to be completed by the end of February 2025.

The guidelines and directions regarding the delivery of school uniforms were announced after a recent meeting arranged by Samagra Shiksha, Assam (SSA), with vendors of uniforms. State Education Minister Ranoj Pegu chaired the meeting in the presence of SSA officials and the vendors.

During discussion on the quality and timely delivery of uniforms, the Education Minister reiterated that there should not be any deviation of quality standards as per the guidelines related to the school uniforms and that the delivery must be made on time.

After detailed discussions on the quality and timely delivery of uniforms and the lab test report received last year, several decisions were taken at the meeting. It was stated that the supply of school uniforms by the vendors must be completed by February 28, 2025, without fail. Also that if any vendor fails to supply uniforms as per specification and on time, the vendor will be blacklisted.

Regarding the colour of the school uniform, it was stated that white shirts and blue pants will be provided from the academic year of 2025-26. One track pant would be provided against one trouser. Also that the logo of Samagra Shiksha and PM SHRI should be provided on the pocket of the shirt/kameej/kurta, etc.

It was also determined that if the supplied materials of any bidder fail on testing for quality, payment will not be made to the supplier against that lot/batch supplied to all the schools; the supplier will be blacklisted and debarred for the next three years.

The quality of the uniforms and delivery date for the supply of uniforms will not be compromised at any cost; it was reiterated at the meeting.

It was further decided that SSA will randomly check or monitor the quality of uniforms to be supplied by each vendor. In case of any substandard quality of uniform being observed during testing, such uniforms will be rejected and the vendor blacklisted, it was also stated.
