KOKRAJHAR: BTC CEM Pramod Boro said, "Bodofa's legacy lives on in our hearts, and through our actions, we are going to translate his dreams for the Bodos and other downtrodden communities."
Boro said this at Bodofa's 69th birth anniversary celebrated as Students' Day across Assam today. The 1st UN Brahma Memorial Lecture was organised under the aegis of the Government of BTR at Cotton University auditorium hall.
The BTC CEM said that the event provided them an opportunity to reflect on Bodofa's timeless message of 'live and let live', a guiding principle in BTR's journey towards sustainable peace, harmony, and integrity.
Boro said that Bodofa's unwavering commitment to peace, equity, justice, and uplift of society laid the foundation for a harmonious and inclusive Bodoland. "In light of his ideals and with his blessings, we remain steadfast in shaping a future where every individual thrives with dignity, respect, and equal opportunity," he added.
Delivering his keynote address, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu recalled his students' days at Cotton College and his interaction with Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma. Pegu remarked, "Bodofa Brahma never advocated violence. He belonged not only to the Bodo people but to all of Assam. His philosophy helped us resolve many of our issues. Let us embrace diversity and celebrate his anniversary as Students' Day across Assam."
Vice-Chancellor of Cotton University Prof. Ramesh Chandra Deka, esteemed dignitaries and student leaders were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, remembering Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma on his 69th birth anniversary, former Chief of BTC Hagrama Mohilary said, "Bodofa's heartbeat still guides us. Today isn't just a date on the calendar. It's a day when the wind whispers his name and the stories of our soil rise like a prayer. Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma wasn't just a leader, but he was the storm that refused to let our culture fade, the father who carried the weight of a people's dreams on his shoulders."
On the other hand, former Deputy Chief of BTC Kampa Borgoyari said on his personal site, "Today, we honour Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, a visionary leader whose tireless dedication reshaped the Bodo society." He said that his legacy of wisdom and perseverance will forever be remembered and celebrated.
