GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a number of his Cabinet colleagues for the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit today. On behalf of the people of Assam, he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister for the approval of the urea plant at Namrup, terming the decision of the central government as a game changer in Assam's developmental journey.

The Prime Minister will take part as the chief guest at Advantage Assam 2.0 on February 25. He will also be the chief guest at the mega jhumur dance recital by around 8,000 dancers during the visit.

"I have received valuable guidance from the Prime Minister on the upcoming Advantage Assam 2.0," the Chief Minister said.

The Chief Minister today met several Union Ministers, including Nirmala Sitharaman, Nitin Gadkari, Piyush Goyal, Hardeep Singh Puri, Jyotiraditya Scindia,

The Chief Minister also met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Upon request from the Chief Minister, Sitharaman agreed to chair the valedictory session of Advantage Assam 2.0.

"I have thanked her for announcing a new urea plant in Assam, a big step towards Atmanirbhar Bharat. I congratulated the Finance Minister for presenting one of the finest budgets in India's history-a budget that has kept the middle class and small businesses at the heart of the government's agenda," he said.

The Chief Minister met Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and invited him to the Advantage Assam 2.0. Puri has given his consent to drive forward the sessions for hydrocarbon and energy at Advantage Assam 2.0.

"We spoke at length on how Assam had an early mover advantage in the oil industry, but the full potential remains untapped. Our joint effort is to ensure Advantage Assam 2.0 serves as the enabling platform to harness Assam's energy potential sustainably through cross-collaborations between key stakeholders," the Chief Minister said.

The Chief Minister also met Union DoNER and Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, who also agreed to chair the session on the role of 'I-ways in Viksit Assam' during Advantage Assam 2.0.

"The session will bring together key stakeholders and the minds in the communication and tech industry to help us formulate an Assam-specific strategy on building an 'Information Highway' in the state," the Chief Minister said.

The CM also met Union Minister for Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and discussed about the ongoing highway projects in Assam.

The CM said, "We have invested Rs 1 lakh crore to establish a world-class road communication system in Assam. The Union Minister will further expand his viewpoint during the second edition of Advantage Assam, where he will focus deeply on the role of Assam as a bridge connecting India with Asian nations."

He also met with Union Industries and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal. After the CM said after the meeting, "The Union Minister will lead discussions on leveraging exports as a growth engine for Assam, further advancing the vision of Vikshit Bharat at the upcoming Advantage Assam summit."

The CM also met Union Minister for Railways, Information and Broadcasting and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, and thanked him for his continuous support and guidance in building the semiconductor ecosystem in the state. "His clarity and passion on this subject will help arouse confidence among prospective investors to explore opportunities in Assam's upcoming electronic city," he said.

According to the Chief Minister, in Advantage Assam 2.0, the government is not just going to showcase Assam's success in the industrial and business landscape but also showcase its preparedness to host companies from diverse sectors in the land of limitless opportunities.
