Guwahati: On the second day of the three-day Assam visit by the Japanese delegation led by Nukaga Fukushiro,  Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan, the team visited IIT-Guwahati on Sunday morning. A presentation was made by IIT-G before the Japanese delegation regarding the ongoing joint initiatives and future collaborations. Nukaga Fukushiro, during his speech, said that both nations can work together on development initiatives. “India is rich in information technology and human resources. Japan requires such human resources. So, we are ready to extend a helping hand to people who want to establish themselves in Japan. Moreover, joint development initiatives are also likely to be taken up in infrastructure, education, economy and political fields,” the Japanese Speaker said.

Apart from the visit to IIT-G, the Japanese team also visited a Japanese language and testing centre, named ASEAN One Technical Development Centre, which is under construction at Amingaon. The centre aims to empower Assamese youth through Japanese language training and testing, preparing them for employment opportunities in Japan.

Together, we’re building a bridge between Assam and Japan — rooted in respect, opportunity, and shared growth,” Dass said.

During the visit to the Japanese language centre, Nukaga Fukushiro said that Assam is headed towards becoming one of the most developed states in the country, as there is huge potential in the state. He said Japan is committed to helping Assam achieve this, as the state is rich in human resources. “If the human resources here are trained up, there is every possibility of employment opportunities in Japan. As a result of this, both Japan and Assam will benefit,” the Japan Speaker said.

Speaker Mr Nukaga mentioned that he has already spoken to Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya and Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma regarding investment by Japanese companies in Assam.
