GUWAHATI: The ECI (Election Commission of India) has extended its Electors Verification programme for a month so as to provide more time to voters for getting their names and other information in the electoral rolls verified and errors, if any, corrected. Along with rest of India, the Electors Verification programme was started in Assam on September 1 this year. It was supposed to conclude on October 15, 2019. However, the ECI has extended it. Talking to The Sentinel, State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) MC Sahu said: “The Electors Verification programme has been extended till November 18, 2019. Electors who haven’t yet verified their names and other details in the photo electoral rolls can get it done now.”

Electors can verify their names or errors if any, corrected by logging on to www.nvsp.in or through the mobile app ‘Voter Helpline’ of ECI that can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.

This is a major overdrive undertaken by the ECI with an aim to ensure an error-free photo electoral roll. For correcting errors, the electors can upload supporting documents like the Indian passports, driving licences, aadhaar cards, ration cards, identity cards issued by the government or semi-government establishments, bank passports, PAN Cards and other documents approved by the Election Commission of India.
