Guwahati:The vibrant spirit of Durga Puja soared to new heights in Assam today as devotees gathered to celebrate Maha Saptami, the seventh day of Navratri, marked by sacred rituals, colorful processions, and cultural performances.
In a heartfelt message from Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “On this auspicious Maha Saptami, I bow to Maa Durga and seek her divine blessings in our collective journey toward a prosperous and peaceful Assam.” His words resonated across social media, where citizens echoed the sentiment with festive greetings.
From the banks of the Brahmaputra to bustling city pandals, the day began with the traditional Nabapatrika Snan ritual, symbolizing nature worship. Temples and community pandals were adorned with intricate decorations, while devotional music and drumbeats filled the air.
As the evening descended, illuminated idols of Goddess Durga drew thousands, celebrating her victory over evil, a metaphor embraced by many as a call for unity and resilience.
