GUWAHATI: Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu assured the Assam Government that the work for Silchar’s Green Field Airport will begin this year, besides the expansion of the Rupsi Airport in Dhubri.
Naidu informed Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma that Jorhat, Dibrugarh and Silchar airports will soon be connected to more Indian cities through new flight connections. The ministry also explored the possibility of getting more first-time fliers airborne, aimed at revisiting the UDAN Scheme in the region by making it more effective, vibrant and sustainable.
