GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma went hammer and tongs against Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi in the latter's recent speech in the Lok Sabha on Operation Sindoor. The Chief Minister today reiterated that the SIT (Special Investigation Team) of the Assam Police would complete its investigation on the alleged Pakistan link of the Congress MP and his wife before September 10, 2025.

When asked about Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi's speech in the Lok Sabha stealing the show in Pakistani media, the Chief Minister said, "It's a matter of shame for the people of Assam. We feel ashamed of the way he made comments on the Indian Army. The MP even questioned as to why the Indian Army fired missiles from afar instead of firing from close range. We need to hail the Indian Army if they can hit their targets from 3,000-4,000 km afar. His speech made me feel that the MP doesn't love India. He even made his wife and wards foreigners. I can say today that someday the MP will also change his citizenship. That's the reason why he delivers anti-India speeches in the Parliament."

The Chief Minister said, "The people of Jorhat and Sivasagar had immense contributions in the Freedom Movement of India. These people contributed a lot to the Assam Agitation as well. The Jorhat MP hogging the limelight (becoming a hero) in the Pakistani media is a matter of shame for us. His queries in the Lok Sabha since 2014 continue to help Pakistan. Obviously, he can't be a hero in Indian television. He will be a hero only in Pakistan. He didn't deny when Union Home Minister Amit Shah told the Parliament that the Jorhat MP visited Pakistan several times."

On the SIT investigation, the Chief Minister said, "The SIT has limited scope. It cannot have access to telephonic interactions and telephonic connections beyond two years. However, the NIA can have access to such information up to 2010-11. However, the SIT has done a good job within its limited reach. The SIT has even collected manual evidence."

The Chief Minister further said, "Everything will be clear post-September 10, 2025. We've given time to SIT till September 10. It will file the report either on September 11 or 12. I have told the SIT that the government won't allow any extension of the September 10, 2025, deadline. I will place the SIT report in the cabinet before September 15, 2025. It is the cabinet that will decide if the case is to be referred to the NIA, CBI, or the Ministry of Home Affairs."
