Guwahati: Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma today asserted that he possessed documents which indicated that Gaurav Gogoi and his wife were deeply involved with Pakistani authorities in anti-India activities.

Talking to the media, the CM said that Gaurav Gogoi’s wife, under the pretence of climate change activism, was involved in snooping on the Intelligence Bureau of India. She collected various output of the IB. The salary she drew was routed through agencies of organisations with ISI connections.

Regarding Gaurav Gogoi, the CM said that during Gogoi’s 14-day stay in Pakistan, he received training. He questioned why Gogoi did not post anything related to his Pakistan tour on social media and kept it a secret.

The CM also said that Gaurav Gogoi has provided only 10% of answers to the allegations levelled against him and his family regarding his Pakistan connection. But, on September 10, when the remaining 90% of the facts are revealed along with proof, Rahul Gandhi will regret that he appointed Gaurav Gogoi as the state Congress president. The people of Assam and the nation deserve the truth and they shall have it in full, the CM said.

“After the Special Investigation Team (SIT) submits its report on September 10, we will take necessary action. Gaurav Gogoi admitted that he visited Pakistan after becoming the state Congress president. Why did he not admit to that fact earlier?” the CM questioned.

On why Gaurav Gogoi was appointed as the state Congress chief despite all the allegations against him, the CM said that the Congress party always patronises Pakistan’s anti-India activities. There is no connection between the upcoming elections and Gaurav Gogoi’s issues; it is a matter of the nation’s security, the CM added.
