GUWAHATI: Major industrial groups – Adani, Ambani and Vedanta – have announced their investment amounting to around Rs 2 lakh crore in the Northeast. They have made the announcement at the two-day ‘Rising Northeast Investors Summit, 2025’ that began in New Delhi today.
Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal announced at the summit that his group would invest Rs 80,000 crore in the Northeast. He said that their focused areas are oil, gas, power, optical fibre, data centres, etc. “The investment will potentially generate up to one lakh jobs in the northeastern states,” he said.
The Reliance Group announced that it would invest around Rs 75,000 crore in the Northeast in the coming five years. The group’s chairman, Mukesh Ambani, said, “We aspire to touch the lives of most of our 45 million sisters and brothers of the northeastern states. Our aim is to transform the Northeast’s vast wasteland into wealth land by setting up 350 integrated compressed biogas plants.”
Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani made an announcement of investing Rs 1 lakh crore in the northeastern states in the next ten years. He said that his group had already announced the investment of Rs 50,000 crore during the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit in Guwahati. He enumerated green energy, roads and highways, digital infrastructure, etc., as his focused areas. “But more than infrastructure development, we’ll invest in people. Every initiative will prioritize local jobs, local entrepreneurship and community engagement,” he said.
Rising Northeast Investors Summit, 2025 aims at highlighting the northeastern region as a land of opportunities, attracting investors and policymakers on a single platform. The summit has been organized by the central government with active support from the state governments in the Northeast.
