NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court of India directed the managements of 25 tea gardens, including that of ATCL in Assam, to pay around Rs 650 crore dues of 28,556 garden workers. The apex court issued this order based on the report of the Justice (retd) Abhay Manohar Sapre Committee. The Supreme Court formed this committee in 2020 to ensure the payment of tea garden workers' dues. (Agencies)
