GUWAHATI: The certificates for people belonging to the economically weaker section (EWS) will remain valid for the financial year when the authorities concerned (circle officer or circle officer attached) issue such certificates.
The Personnel (B) Department of the State Government made it clear through a recent notification. The quota for EWS, introduced by the Central Government, is ten percent for government jobs and for admission to educational institutions. However, the quota for EWS people has been kept in abeyance for government jobs since December 21, 2022, in Assam. However, this quota is operational for admission into educational institutions.
The department had to issue this notification to make it clear in no uncertain terms that candidates belonging to EWS are eligible for government posts that were advertised before December 21, 2022. From now on, EWS certificates will remain valid for the financial year of their issuance. State government jobs that were advertised after December 21, 2022, have no reservation of posts for EWS candidates.
