GUWAHATI: The Gauhati High Court on Friday adjourned the hearing on the bail plea of Shyamkanu Mahanta in connection with the alleged death case linked to singer Zubeen Garg and fixed May 25 as the next date for hearing. During the hearing, senior advocate Pran Bora, appearing on behalf of Mahanta, presented arguments before the court seeking bail for his client.
The state government, represented by Advocate General Devajit Lon Saikia, sought additional time to submit its response to the bail application filed before the court.
Following arguments from both sides, the High Court adjourned the matter until Monday, when the government is expected to present its arguments opposing the bail plea.
The case relates to the alleged death linked to Zubeen Garg, which has drawn significant public attention in Assam.
Further proceedings in the matter are scheduled to continue before the Gauhati High Court on May 25.
