Guwahati: Minister Pijush Hazarika on 6th August conducts a high-level review meeting in Sivasagar to assess the progress of post-flood relief and rehabilitation efforts, with an emphasis on ensuring timely assistance to every affected family.
The meeting, held at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner's Office, was attended by Ministers Bimal Borah and Sushanta Borgohain, Nazira MLA Mayur Borgohain, and senior district officials.
During the meeting, Hazarika reviewed the ongoing rehabilitation initiatives, damage assessment, dewatering operations, and floodwater removal measures in Sivasagar town and other flood-affected parts of the district. The team informed him that nearly 43,000 flood-affected families had already received the Assam government's interim financial assistance of Rs 15,000.
The minister directed the district administration to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries receive the financial aid without delay, stressing that no deserving family should be excluded from the relief process. He also instructed officials to fast forward rehabilitation work, improve coordination among government departments, and ensure the effective implementation of relief measures.
Hazarika has been staying in Sivasagar for the past seven days to oversee relief and rehabilitation operations in both Sivasagar and Charaideo districts. During this period, he has visited several flood-hit areas, interacted with affected people of that area, and monitored relief efforts on the ground.
Meanwhile, the district administration has begun mobilising resources to construct temporary shelters for families whose homes were completely destroyed by the floods, as the Assam government continues rehabilitation efforts across the worst-affected districts.
