Guwahati: Today, three workers were rescued after an accident at Pushpadhar Apartment in the Chowkidingee area of Dibrugarh . As per an initial reports, one of the workers, identified as Deep Sonowal, fell into a lift shaft from around the sixth floor while carrying out repair work. He was reportedly found in a critical condition and was rescued by personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services and the SDRF.
Two other workers who reportedly entered the lift shaft in an attempt to rescue Sonowal also became trapped. They were later rescued by SDRF team. After the incident, Sonowal was taken to hospital in a fire service vehicle for medical treatment.
The accident has raised concerns over safety arrangements at the construction site. Allegations have surfaced that the workers were not provided with adequate safety equipment by the contractor, identified as Munna Singh.
It was alleged that no residents came forward to assist or arrange an ambulance despite repeated requests. Police are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident and examine the safety measures in place at the site.
