Guwahati: All bars and hotels in Kamrup (Metro) permitted to operate round the clock have been directed to continue providing mandatory pick-up and drop-off services for customers to enhance road safety and ensure their well-being.
On 6th August, a directive was issued by Kamrup (Metro) District Commissioner Swapnil Paul during a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee held at the District Commissioner's Office .
During the meeting, the District Commissioner emphasised the need for strict adherence to the safety measure by all establishments operating 24 hours a day. The mandatory transport facility is aimed at reducing the risk of road accidents and ensuring that patrons return home safely, particularly during late-night hours.
To ensure effective implementation of the directive, the District Commissioner instructed the Excise Department and the District Transport Officer (Enforcement) to closely monitor compliance by bars and hotels across Guwahati. Officials have been asked to carry out regular inspections and take appropriate action against establishments found violating the order.
The decision forms part of the district administration's broader efforts to strengthen road safety and promote responsible practices among hospitality establishments operating round the clock. Kamrup District authority have reiterated that customer safety remains a top priority and that strict compliance with the directive is expected from all eligible bars and hotels.
