DIBRUGARH: District Commissioner (DC) Bikram Kairi chaired a preparatory meeting for the 79th Independence Day celebrations in Dibrugarh district, which was held on July 16 at the District Commissioner’s conference hall.
In order to make the celebration a grand success, the DC reviewed departmental responsibilities and urged all officials to ensure seamless execution of assigned duties in the meeting. He also directed that the national flag be hoisted at government offices, educational institutions, organisations, establishments, and even private residences in line with the official guidelines and timings.
The DC called for intensive drives across the Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation and municipal boards while emphasising cleanliness ahead of the occasion. He also appealed for similar efforts in Gaon Panchayat areas to create a festive and patriotic atmosphere with strong community involvement.
The meeting was attended by Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation Mayor Dr Saikat Patra, DMC Commissioner Jay Vikas (IAS), District Council CEO Bipul Kumar Das, Acting SP Chizal Agarwal, DFO Nand Kumar, Election Officer Pranjil Gogoi, and other senior officials from various departments.
Meanwhile, Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) commissioner Dr M S Lakshmi Priya conducted an early morning inspection of cleanliness drives across various wards under Division 6 on July 3, reinforcing the corporation’s commitment to sanitation and community participation.
Joined by Ward No. 24 councillor Biju Medhi, Ward No. 10 councillor Kalpana Das, and senior GMC officials, the commissioner reviewed cleaning operations, interacted with Safai Mitras, and engaged with residents to address civic and sanitation-related concerns.
