Guwahati: The Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday said that the construction of the proposed Guwahati club-Bamunimaidan flyover will begin this year.
He informed this while addressing the gathering at the foundation laying ceremony of the RG Baruah Road flyover.
According to Sarma, after the construction of the said flyover, the RG Baruah road will witnessed more traffic.
He further informed that the detailed project report (DPR) of the Guwahati Club-Bamunimaidan has already been completed.
Notably, the state government is to undertake about 4 bighas of land acquisition for the project.
Meanwhile, the construction work has started of a new two-lane flyover connecting RG Baruah road to Geetanagar in Guwahati.
According to reports, the flyover will have one end near Usha Court and the other beside Uday Path at the 'Namghar.'
Further, a company named AD Construction is in charge of the flyover's construction and according to them the flyover would be completed and open to the public in 18 months.
As per the PWD sources, the estimated project cost is Rs 79 crore.
The length of this proposed two-lane over bridge is about 580 metres.
"Once the project is completed, traffic jam will lessen at the Zoo Road Tinali (tri-junction),'' Department sources added.
