GUWAHATI: The body of a Delhi resident identified as Anil Kumar was found in a hotel room in Guwahati's Paltan Bazar area. Kumar, a regular visitor to the city for work, had been staying at the Hotel Ambassador during his trips over the past four years.

Hotel records reveal that Kumar checked into Room No. 122 on the night of November 26. Staff members suspect he may have died on Thursday night.

Upon being informed, Paltan Bazar Police arrived at the hotel and sent the body to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for a post-mortem examination. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of his death.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, Maya Gogoi, a 26-year-old native from Assam, was found dead at The Royal Livings, a service apartment in Bengaluru's upscale Indiranagar area.

Reports claim that Aarav Anay, a resident of Kannur, Kerala, who was also Maya's partner, stabbed her to death. Aarav is on the run, and a manhunt has been launched to locate him.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) D Devaraj said, "We got a complaint at Indira Nagar police station that there was a stinking smell coming out of a room in the Royal Living service apartment this morning. When we visited the room, we found the body of a female lying on the bed. We have filed a murder case in the police station."

According to the top official, the accused works as a student counsellor at Leap Scholar. Alongside a nylon wire, the police found a knife when they entered the room, he added. The murder seemed to have been planned, as per Devraj.
