GUWAHATI: In a series of swift operations, the Guwahati Police have successfully apprehended two individuals in connection with separate cases of theft and drug trafficking.
In the first incident, a team from the West Guwahati Police District (WGPD) under Jalukbari Police Station recovered a Tata Magic vehicle from Sipajhar. The vehicle was reportedly stolen from the Adabari parking lot. Acting on intelligence inputs, the police team traced the stolen vehicle and arrested one Dhanmoni Hazarika of Mangaldoi in connection with the case. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused.
In another operation, the West Guwahati Police District team from Azara Police Station nabbed Ranjan Barman with six vials of heroin weighing approximately 8 grams. The accused was apprehended based on a tip-off, and legal action has been initiated against him.
The Guwahati Police continue their efforts to curb criminal activities in the city, urging the public to report any suspicious activities to ensure a safer community.
Meanwhile, earlier this month, the Guwahati Police had successfully apprehended multiple individuals involved in vehicle theft, extortion, and burglary. The operations, carried out by the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) and the West Guwahati Police District (WGPD), had led to the recovery of stolen property and the arrest of key suspects.
A routine vehicle rental had turned into an ordeal for Goutam Chutia when his Bolero (AS01FZ1314), given on rent for a 10-day trip to Nagaland, had not been returned. After extensive efforts, the vehicle had been traced to Kohima, where it had been found under the possession of a gang led by Polas Bonia. The gang had not only refused to return the vehicle but had also extorted Rs 1,25,000 from Chutia and his associates, Achyut Das and Apurba Das, under threats of violence.
