GUWAHATI: Pragjyotish College, Guwahati, celebrated the 76th NCC Day recently, with the objective of promoting unity and discipline among its cadets. The event was organized by the NCC Coordination Committee of Pragjyotish College, with participation from various NCC units, including 1 Assam BN NCC, 48 Assam Naval Unit NCC, 50 Assam Air Squadron NCC, and 60 Assam Girls BN NCC.
The programme commenced with the principal of Pragjyotish College, Dr. Manoj Kr. Mahanta, hoisting the NCC flag. The guest of honour included PI staff from 1 Assam BN NCC and 50 Assam Air Squadron NCC. Dr. Mahanta emphasized the importance of unity and discipline in leading a gentleman’s life. He also appreciated the drill competition organized by the NCC wings, noting that it was a rare opportunity to see all four wings working together.
The PI staff motivated the cadets by sharing their experiences during their tenure in NCC and their respective workplaces. The celebration also included various competitions, such as drill, running, and tug of war, organized by the cadets. A cultural programme was held to showcase the inherent talents of the cadets, with the chief guest, Biswajyoti Deva Mahanta, HoD, Department of History, Pragjyotish College, and Antaripa Das, Faculty in the Department of Fine Arts, Pragjyotish College, in attendance.
