GUWAHATI: Preparations are in full swing for the upcoming three-day Samutkarsha Mahashibir, organized by Vidya Bharati Purvottar Kshetra, scheduled to take place from January 29 to 31, 2025. A preparatory meeting was held on Monday in the auditorium of the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, Sarusajai, to finalize the arrangements for the grand event.
The meeting was chaired by Lt. General (Retd.) Rana Pratap Kalita, president of the Samutkarsha Mahashibir Celebration Committee. Dr. Pawan Tiwari, organizational secretary of Vidya Bharati Purvottar Kshetra, explained the objectives behind organizing the Mahashibir, which aims to promote education, culture, and unity among the people of Northeast India.
Dr. Jagadindra Rai Choudhury, secretary of Purvottar Kshetra, delegated responsibilities to various members present, while Nirav Ghelani, organizational secretary of Shishu Shiksha Samiti, Assam, inspired the participants to proceed with a well-structured plan in their respective domains.
The meeting also witnessed the unveiling of the official logo and promotional video of the Mahashibir. Mukuteswar Goswami, Prachar pramukh of Shishu Shiksha Samiti, Assam, announced that around 5,000 students from across Northeast India would participate in synchronized musical performances.
The Mahashibir will feature a range of activities, including exhibitions, physical activities, Panchpadi-based education, a children’s fair, and more. The event is expected to attract a large audience, with around 30,000 people anticipated to attend the closing ceremony on January 31, 2025.
Notably, governors, chief ministers, education ministers, and other dignitaries from Assam and the seven other north-eastern states have been invited to attend the concluding ceremony.
