GUWAHATI: In a shocking multi-vehicle collision, one person died and three persons were injured.
The accident took place at the Kamakhya Gate in the city when a Ford Endeavor rammed into a Scooty, an Alto car and a Bullet motorcycle at around 11.50 am on Tuesday. The Ford Endeavor (AS06S0101) was coming from the Kamakhya side towards Bharulumukh at a high speed. It first hit a Scooty (AS 01 EB3780) which was moving in the same direction. After this, it rammed into an Alto car ( AS01BG8672) and a Bullet motorcycle ( AS01EU5201) which were parked on the roadside.
The Scooty rider, Prashant Saxena (30), was seriously injured. He was rushed to a private hospital where he was declared as brought dead. Saxena hailed from Uttar Pradesh and was residing at Geetanagar in the city. On the other hand, three person who were inside the Alto car at the time of the accident were injured. They have been identified as Jyotirmoy Das, Dipankar Das and Munmun Talukdar. They were admitted to a private hospital and are undergoing treatment.
Local people were agitated after the accident and a tense situation prevailed. The driver of the Ford Endeavor, Sahil Hussain, was arrested.
