Guwahati: A one-day State-Level Master Trainers Training Programme for District and Revenue Circle officials on the Digital Crop Survey (DCS) was successfully conducted today at the auditorium of a hotel in Guwahati. The event was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, Government of Assam, as part of the state’s push towards digitizing the agricultural sector.
The training aimed to equip key field-level officials with comprehensive knowledge and skills for the effective rollout of the DCS and the Farmers’ Registry. The survey is scheduled to commence across various districts of Assam from the latter part of August 2025 for the Kharif season 2025–2026.
Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Assam, Agriculture Department, and Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC), Aruna Rajoria, graced the inaugural session as the chief guest. In her address, she urged the participating officials to become “agents of transformative change” by championing digital initiatives like crop surveys and farmer registration. She emphasized the critical role these efforts would play in ushering in a new era for agriculture in Assam.
Speaking at the event, Director of Agriculture Dr. P. Uday Praveen highlighted that the primary objective of the training is to strengthen the capabilities of officials through in-depth instruction on digital processes. He noted that the implementation of digital tools will facilitate accurate data storage, unique identification of farmers, integration of land records, and ensure targeted delivery of government benefits.
