GUWAHATI: Two incidents of suicide were reported from different parts of the city on Monday. The first was reported when a hostelier of a private school in Guwahati was found hanging in a washroom in his hostel, and the second was a graduate student of a college in her room.
The first victim has been reported to belong to the West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. He was a boarding house student in Class 12 in the humanities department of the South Point School. His body was discovered by the warden of the facility and was immediately shifted to a nearby medical facility, where they declared him dead on arrival.
A case was registered regarding the incident at the Fatasil Ambari Police Station by the head of the institution, while the police took custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem. The phone of the deceased was also handed over to the police. The school authorities mentioned the young boy as a good student who was active in both sports and studies while adding that no one could imagine him taking this extreme step.
The second incident took place in the Pandu locality of Guwahati. A student studying in the second semester of a degree course at Pandu College committed suicide in her PG room. The police took custody of the body and sent it for the necessary post-mortem procedures.
