Guwahati: As urban flooding continues to disrupt normal life across Guwahati, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Kamrup (Metro) has activated its District Emergency Operations Centre (DEOC) to provide round-the-clock assistance to affected citizens. In view of the severe waterlogging caused by incessant rainfall since May 29, the move aims to ensure timely support and safety for residents in distress. In an official statement, the DDMA appealed to the public to reach out for any kind of help related to flood-related emergencies, particularly in low-lying and vulnerable areas across the city. The emergency helpline will be operational 24x7 to coordinate rescue efforts, respond to distress calls, and offer guidance during the ongoing crisis.
Contact Information for Assistance: Toll-Free Number: 0361-1077 and Mobile: 93654-29314.
Citizens are urged to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from waterlogged zones, and follow official advisories. The DDMA reiterated that the safety and security of Guwahati’s residents remain its top priority as emergency teams including SDRF personnel continue their operations in flood-affected areas.
The appeal comes at a time when several parts of the city remain inundated, with key roads submerged and public transport disrupted. Authorities have called for collective responsibility and prompt communication to tackle the situation effectively.
