AALO: The West Siang district disaster management authority (DDMA) conducted a civil defence mock drill in Aalo New Market on Wednesday to ensure preparedness for any potential disaster.
The exercise took place in two sessions, at 4 pm and 7 pm, and was organised under the supervision of the district administration, led by deputy commissioner Mamu Hage and superintendent of police Kardak Riba.
Key stakeholders, including the fire brigade, police, health department, Indian Army, NCC cadets, disaster management volunteers, ITBP, Indian Air Force, BJP volunteers, and the local market committee, actively participated in the drill.
During the mock drill, Aalo town observed a complete blackout to simulate emergency conditions.
In the debriefing session, the deputy commissioner praised the successful execution of the exercise and the cooperation from Aalo’s residents. She emphasised the critical roles and responsibilities of the district-level team to ensure effective preparedness in the event of a calamity. The DC also proposed the installation of emergency sirens at strategic locations across Aalo township and urged members of the DDMA to remain vigilant in case of future emergencies.
